Ontario Place to close its doors

They Said...

One of the tourist attraction and amusement park for people of Toronto is going to be closed for around 5 years time span to revitalize the theme park for the consumers.

Ontario place has been reported to be a liability for the province of Ontario, costing $20 million to keep the theme park going every year. It seems like a reasonable move on behalf of the province to take this time to really think what went wrong and try to use this facility to benefit the province.

Personally, I believe that the Ontario Place simply doesn't have the attractions necessary to attract youth, college/university students, and working class adults. The location appears to be more tailored towards children or parents with childrens. Thus, the idea of having a casino may be a good reveneue generating attraction on behalf of the province. It may also be useful for the government to think about why the CNE and the Wonderland is so much more attractive to consumers than Ontario place.

It is assumed that the Park will reopen again around 2017, which is five years time from now. I surely would like to see a great tourist attraction in Toronto that will hopefully bring it's tourist economy of Toronto back to how it was in the past.
